  1. I have to admit, you made me think about it and you really don't NEED a pet( if you're not BM). But as you don't need it, a pet is a big help. They attack if needed, defend your back(Especially useful when kitty druids and rogues molesting said back), and with proper talenting, they just get even better. my boar saved lifes with his Intervene ability. Pets are friends and brothers of the hunter, a sypmbol for our class, we just half alive without one.

    They're also good damage sponges.

  3. I'm a lvl 85 MM hunter and you really do need a pet....it is a good portion of your dps and have a lot of support abilities that increase your dps further.....you need a pet end of story

  4. I guess it depends on how you define "need". You can survive without a pet, but you wouldn't be fulfilling your role nearly as well as you would with one.
It's sort of like asking if any character really *needs* good gear; or any gear for that matter.
Yes, you can live without it; but why would you want to?

  5. Pets are just as useful as the Unholy DK's ghouls. They make up about 30% of the dps.
